Water

Water

Water is an essential ingredient of all human activities. It is used for drinking, cooking, heating, cooling, industrial process, firefighting, recreation, fishing etc. The human body requires a certain amount of water to help our blood, our temperature control and the proper functioning of many organs.

Where does water come from?

Generally water comes from a process called the water cycle. Water vapour is evaporated by the sun from the Earth's oceans, seas, lakes, rivers and land and this falls back to Earth in the form of rain, snow and sleet. Surface water that arises from rainfall finds its way into aquifers, rivers, lakes etc. and it is from these storage areas that water is abstracted by local authorities for drinking water and other purposes.
