Energy is essential to our daily lives. We use it to heat our homes, drive our cars and create our electricity. At the moment, most of the energy we use comes from fossil fuels such as oil, gas, coal and turf. Unfortunately, there is a limited supply of fossil fuels in the World and they are being used up at a very fast rate. Also, the burning of fossil fuels produces carbon dioxide (CO2), a greenhouse gas, which causes climate change.
In order to save fossil fuels and reduce the amount of harmful greenhouse gases produced, we should save energy and consider the use of Renewable Energy.
You can save energy by walking or cycling instead of driving, turning your heating down, buying energy efficient kitchen appliances, turning lights and other electrical appliances off when not needed, insulating your attic, etc.
It’s common sense that if we save energy, we save money. Some energy efficiency decisions will also make our homes more comfortable
Renewable sources of energy like Solar power, fast-growing Biomass crops, Heat pumps, Hydropower, Wind and Wavepower are much more sustainable energy sources than fossil fuels.
