Lifetime Lab is delighted to offer school tours of Lifetime Lab to teachers and their classes. Simply download the school tour booking form and email it to lifetimelab@corkcity.ie or fax to 021 4941519.

A one hour school tour includes time at the interactive exhibition where children will be entertained and stimulated while learning about energy, water, waste and a whole range of other environmental issues. In the Steam Centre, they will get an opportunity to appreciate the technology used in the past to supply water to Cork city. Children can let off their own brand of steam in the playground and sensory garden before departure.

School Tours are given by a friendly and knowledgeable staff, who will ensure an enjoyable experience is had by all.

Visiting groups:

  • Receive an introductory presentation detailing the history of the Old Waterworks and the important role water played in the development of Cork City.
  • Tour the old buildings including the steam centre, offering historical and geographical examples of why the site was chosen as the location of the Waterworks.
  • See how Lifetime Lab now uses renewable energy
  • Visit the interactive exhibits where students take part in an environmental quiz.
  • Make a personal environmental pledge to put on a display in the visitor centre.
  • Enjoy the playground (time and weather permitting).
