Workshop topics include Water, Energy, Rocks & Soils and Science and the Senses
Hands on practical activities encouraging discovery and investigation
Activities planned to meet skills development and strand content objectives of SESE science and geography curricula
Delivered by a qualified teacher
Schools enrolled in the Discover Primary Science programme can use a workshop visit to meet the Step 2 requirement to achieve a DPS ‘Award of Excellence’
The activity-based workshops aimed at 3rd to 6th class pupils are facilitated by a qualified teacher. Children will enjoy the practical, hands on activities and their class teacher will appreciate the fact that the workshops embrace ‘skills and concept development’ as well as the ‘objectives’ of the SESE science curriculum.
The workshops are designed to be class-level-specific, ensuring that the activities the children engage in are appropriately pitched. Workshop themes currently include: Water, Energy, Rocks & Soils and Science and the Senses.
A teacher/ accompanying adult to child ratio of 1:10 is requested. The active participation of the class teacher and accompanying adults throughout the workshop makes for a most enjoyable and worthwhile day for all involved.
Classes are advised to bring a packed lunch. The cost of a 3½ hour workshop is €80. If a school wishes to avail of our subsidised bus, which is in association with Bord Gáis, the overall package costs €150. Payment is to be made on arrival at Lifetime Lab.
