As part of the Engineers Ireland Presentation Series.Michael O'Brien, Environment Directorate, Cork City Council recently discussed "Cork Landfills - Past, Present and Future" at the Rochestown Park Hotel.The lecture discussed the history of waste management in Cork, the initial implementation of waste collection and disposal through to the construction and openingof Bottlehill. Emphasis was placed on the Kinsale Road landfill discussing the management of methane, leachate, overall capacity and the proposed recreational activities that will be developed on the site after its closure.
