As part of Engineered; A Week of Wonder 2009, Lifetime Lab will host a series of Radio Workshops designed and delivered by members of the Irish Radio Transmitter Society on Thursday 12thand Friday 13th February 2009.
Come and experience the wonderful world of electronics and communications, hosted by IRTS, the Irish Radio Transmitters Society. Discover how radio waves travel across the world and see how, a century before the invention of SMS texts, coded abbreviations were used to send messages quickly around the globe.
Suitable for 6th class pupils, expert facilitators commence by giving a short presentation and encourage students to discuss topics such as such as how radio waves are transmitted and participants will have the opportunity to identify components, build a simple electronic circuit to take away and use it to send messages.
· One class only per workshop (max 32 pupils)
· Workshops are free of charge
· 2 workshop per day 9.30am and 11.30am
· Thursday 12th and Friday 13th February 2009
· Session lasts approx 90mins
· We request that accompanying teacher remain with class during workshop
