Lifetime Lab received the Innovating Government Award at a ceremony held at Dublin Castle recently.

Government Chief Whip Pat Carey TD, Jerry Moynihan, Environment Cork City Council and Joe Murphy Inside Government Magazine at the innovating government awards.

Commenting on the awards and recipients An Taoiseach Brian Cowen TD said “For my government it is a priority to bring about further improvement in the effectiveness with which public business is transacted. These awards complement that objective and encourage good practice and good value throughout the Irish public service as well as a willingness to engage in achieving even more for the citizen. I congratulate each of the winners for their innovation and determination to improve the value and impact of public service across all sectors”

Open to all areas of the public sector the Judges were looking to recognize unique projects taking into account the impact and challenges under the following criteria

• People
• Process
• Tools
• Culture
• Service Delivery
• Ability to Replicate

The Innovating Government Awards play a major role in identifying and promoting excellence and creativity in the public sector. The winners reflect the fact that the public sector is frequently the source of powerful new ideas and strategies for tackling tough problems, often under very trying circumstances. An innovative state requires an innovative public sector. Ireland’s public sector is recognised as a global leader in adapting innovative practices to deliver Government services. The public sector does not receive the recognition it deserves for the innovative thinking and practices which consistently allow it to rank as a world leader. We hope, through these awards, to highlight the benefits that innovation has brought to public services and communications.
