Retrofitting Homes for Comfort and Energy Efficiency
The Home Energy Saving Scheme grants make it very attractive to retrofit your house for energy efficiency, comfort and health. Investing in your home is the best financial investment you can make given the increasing cost of energy and imminent carbon taxes. You will also be much warmer this winter!This one-day workshop suits all levels of knowledge of buildings and construction and provides participants with sufficient knowledge and practical examples to plan a house retrofit that will help reduce the energy costs while improving occupant health and comfort.
Designing Efficient & Reliable Solar Thermal Systems
This one-day workshop provides participants with the knowledge and practical know-how to plan and design residential and commercial/public solar thermal systems. This workshop is approved for CPD by Engineers Ireland.
Planning Micro-generation Systems
This one-day workshop provides participants with the knowledge and practical know-how required to plan a micro-generation system for a house, a business or a farm. It puts a particular emphasis on grid-connected solar photovoltaic systems and small wind turbines.
These workshops can be booked individually or together with discounts for on-line booking, and for booking all three workshops. Both Cork and Dublin dates are available, and further information can be found on the attached flyers.
Passive House including the Passive House Planning Package – 12-14 October
NICER Training is pleased to present a three-day Passive House workshop, which includes 2 days training using the Passive House Planning Package (PHPP) software.Presenters for the workshop will be Bill Quigley from NuTech, Xavier Dubuisson from DW EcoCo, and Joseph Little from Joseph Little Architects.The 2010 Building Regulations will take Irish buildings to near the Passive House standard. Learn strategies and approaches to cost-efficient, high quality, healthy and sustainable construction.

Day 1 - Passive House principles, including Low-energy Design in Ireland, Building Envelope & Physics, Retrofit Issues, and BER & DEAP
Days 2-3 – PHPP – Interactive Workshop and Demonstration
PHPP is an exciting and detailed tool that yields very accurate results at a lower cost than other software methods. It includes building modelling software for new construction or renovation and it determines building energy consumption.
