On Friday 12th September 2008 Minister John Gormley TD took time from his busy schedule to visit Lifetime Lab. Greeted by Gerry O'Beirne, Director of Services Environment and Michael O’Brien, Senior Engineer Environment Cork City Council. The Minister received a  guided tour detailing the different elements of the former Victorian Waterworks.

Minister Gormley complemented Cork City Council on the success of Lifetime Lab and the many green initiatives operated at the site which includes the generation of hydro electricity at the former 19th century turbine house.
