RTÉ are looking for two ordinary families who will be challenged to transform their lives in a bid to become eco-friendly.

We all would like to be a little greener but it isn’t easy knowing where to start. Our new series will see environmental experts carrying out ‘eco audits’ on our families’ houses and their lifestyles. The experts will then recommend behavioural and technical changes for the families in order to reduce their carbon footprint. They will ask you to make these changes to your lifestyle as you continue to go about your daily business. It will require a family effort and will be a challenge but hopefully it will also be rewarding!

Irish householders are among the biggest polluters in Europe and with energy costs rising at such an alarming rate it’s a problem families can no longer afford to ignore. Scientists say we only have a few decades in which to act if we want to curb global warming and minimise its devastating effects. So for financial and environmental reasons, we all need to reduce our carbon footprint and this is your chance to do so. Your family will be an example to others of what can be done with a little effort; if you can rise to the challenge and help save the planet then so can the rest of us!

We will then be in touch in the coming weeks to discuss things further. We plan to film over a number of weeks in November but the experts would visit the family homes before then.

You and your family must be dedicated to this challenge throughout the filming period – essentially you must be ready for RTÉ to take over your way of living for a month! There will be lots of challenges and surprises along the way but ultimately it will be very rewarding.
