The Discover Cork Schools Heritage Project is aimed at both primary and post primary schools across Cork city and county.The project focuses on the creation of all regions of Cork and asks questions such as who,what,where and why.Work submitted for the project should demonstrate the physical and /or social,cultural or economic changes in your area over past centuries.
The theme for 2010 projects is Creativities.Creativity, colour,opinion and imagination should be used.
There are a number of categories and prizes available and students can enter as an individual, in a group or as part of a class project. Projects can be submitted on any aspect of Cork’s rich Heritage and can include topics like Cork’s old railway lines, street furniture or the River Lee and can include subjects such as architecture, archeology and even natural heritage and human impacts. It could also include the history of a famous Cork family, or even a favourite place in Cork.
This project is co-ordinated by local historian and Cork Independent Columnist Cllr.Kieran McCarthy and includes a workshop on the project for all participating schools,futher information and application available below.
