Cork to host Ireland's First Carnival of Science

Lifetime Lab at the Old Cork Waterworks Experience has received funding from Science Foundation Ireland’s Discover Programme Call to deliver the first Cork Carnival of Science.Taking place in June of this year and again in 2020, Cork Carnival of Science will transform Fitzgerald Park into a STEM engagement wonderland. The two day event will feature more than 100 exhibitors offering non-stop, family-friendly experiments, interactive activities, games, street cuisine and a packed line-up of live entertainment.

‘Exploring Primary Science’ is a summer course for primary school teachers run by Una Leader our Education Officer in association with Cork Education Support Centre. The summer course runs from Monday 2nd to Friday 6th July 2018 and is approved by the Department of Education for the purpose of awarding EPV days.

Cork City launches Refill Campaign on World Water Day 2018

On the 22nd March 2018 the Refill campaign was officially launched in Cork very aptly during World Water Day at the Old Cork Waterworks.Refill Ireland is a voluntary Irish environmental project that allows the public to find local businesses who are pledging to provide no quibble FREE tap water refills on request, to people’s own reusable water bottles and perhaps after their coffee, meal, haircut or local appointment.

Lifetime Lab delivers on National Marine Science programme !

The Explorers Education Programme, delivered by 10 centres including Lifetime Lab, met up to 15,000 primary school students, worked with over 500 school teachers and trained in excess of 100 teachers and student teachers on the east and west coasts, as well as attended a number of public events reaching over 300,000 people throughout the country in 2017.

Cork Heritage Open Day 18th August

Cork Heritage Open Day celebrates its 14th anniversary this year. From small beginnings with just 30 participating buildings and 5,000 visitors, Cork Heritage Open Day was organised to mark the 2005 City of Culture programme of events. Now 14 years later, Cork Heritage Open Day has more than 40 buildings involved, an extensive programme of events on going through the day, and reaches an audience of almost 20,000 people.
